7 weeks and counting
Wow! Can you believe it!? Only 7 weeks until Christmas. I must say this year I am nearly organised. I have a pile of Christmas cards purchased STILL sitting on my desk after getting them 3 weeks ago…but that is one step closer to getting those out than I did last year! After this months Ollie Rose Newsletter I plan to start writing them so they don’t get pushed aside this year. Present front………..I think I am nearly there. I have a few that I am making, and hoping that I dont end up having to buy something because I never got around to making them, and a few other items for family I need to buy still but I feel pretty good that most of it is done.
On the Ollie Rose front……….I think I am also there too. We are offering 2 styles of applique tshirts for babies, dresses for girls 9 months and up (very limited stocks of these) and a few accessories like hair clips and bibs.

Stacks of Christmas Cheer

Funky Applique Bibs

Pretty Festive Dresses
And
Christmas applique shirts as seen in the post below
I just cant wait to set up our Christmas Tree! That is the bit that makes it feel like Christmas to meAt least this house has a bit more room than where we were last year as we have such a big tree. Putting that up this year should be fun as Sabre is the perfect age to know what it is all about and get exited. I must admit I have already been using the Father Christmas is watching if you are good line several times……..until she started nervously looking around the room when I said he was watching. We have been having monster issues for a while now, so telling her some big guy in a red suit with a beard is watching her when she doesnt understand probably isnt a good idea!
The only scary thing is………..if there are only 7 weeks until Christmas, that means there are less than 9 until a new baby joins our family! Yikes!

Stack of Swipes

In store are the handiest little mini wipes in the cutest prints. These swipe sized cotton wipes are great for popping in the nappy bag to wipe noses, bottoms, faces, sticky hands and more. They can then be washed and reused over and over. They are approx 10 x 10cm making them the perfect mini size for mini jobs. Eco mums who prefer a reusable wipe for nappy changes will love them.
Funky sock monkey print cottons backed in cotton towelling and top stitched. Packed in bundles of 4 different coordinating prints they are the perfect addition to new parent gift hampers.

Phew…it’s been a whirlwind!
How fast the last month has flown by! With Dan on holidays we have spent some lovely time away and how the days just go! We started with a nice trip up to Coral Bay for a bit of winter warmth….

Then after this we headed down south to see family. Was great for Sabre to catch up with her cousins and friends and she had a fabulous time at animal parks and the Perth Zoo. Absolutely freezing but fun!

Little S with her cousins at the South Animal Farm…

The fantastic Donnybrook Park!

Geraldton Wildlife Park…

and the Perth Zoo
Then it was capped off with a fabulous warm week in Bali! I have only been one other time and loved it so we knew it would be the perfect family holiday to take my ever expanding belly and Sabre too. How quick a week can go over there! A daily routine of a huge in house breakfast buffet, few hours by the pool, rest in the room followed by lots and lots of walking in the afternoon, an early dinner and early nights. Was fantastic to be over there at the same time as my sister too so I had someone to hang beach and poolside with whilst the guys went out surfing!

Ok that’s enough gloating for now! It was a fantastic break away as I was very aware it will be a while before we get to do that again with a new baby arriving in the New Year. Have to get back to reality now! Lot of sewing to catch up on and lots of new things arriving in store soon.

Nice Suprise
Wow an exciting start to the day when I opened up KidstyleFile today to check out all the latest bargains, when I discovered this

You may (or may not) have noticed we have been very bad bloggers of late. Things have been so busy, the poor old blog always gets neglected, but hopefully now we can keep up a bit.

What has been happening around the Ollie Rose “Studio”……….? Well I am feeling sooooooooo much better than a few weeks ago which is great. I have quite the basket ball popping out from under my clothes now. Will have to share a pic one day when I don’t have food spilt all down the front of my shirt!
There has been a flurry of sewing and I have been trying hard to make multiples of the same item now that I am not doing custom orders. There still is usually only one of each size available so you have to be quick but I hope it is helping people to find something they are after.
We will also be having a restocking of Mountain Aven Lounge Sets and more of Lisa’s delightful range in stock in the next few months.
In the closet is where I keep the stuff that is yet to go online and there is currently a stash of pretty dresses in there just awaiting tags and uploading and a pile of unfinished ones on the cut out table. All should be available next month.
On the floor is a pile of confetti looking scraps fallen from the over locker. They remind me of party string, which is quite appropriate seeing as they are the cutest party dresses. Sneak peak below.

Also been making a few bits and bobs getting ready for a market day in Geraldton in October. (will update you on further information soon) A handful of splat snaps….

..and a mountain of rattles…

Spring is in the air, the windy season here has started and life here is as busy but fun as always.

Handmade Wooden Teethers and Toys
We are delighted to now be stocking an lovely range of HANDMADE wooden teethers and toys.
When you want to surpass all the “plastic fantastic” toys and opt for something a little more natural not to mention something lovingly handcrafted this range is for you.

Some things that Colleen the amazing creater of these items has to say:
“In 2007 my greatest inspiration arrived in the form of my son, Evan James.
I started to plan his nursery in painstaiking detail, a tailored bedskirt with a rose cheniile piping, an embroidered bumper, matching drapery, a custom changing table, wall plaques, bookends, a quilted wall hanging and finally, a wall mural to frame his crib.
My son’s first Christmas, 2007, was marked by a widly publicized lead paint scare. Each day, it seemed to me, a new toy was being recalled. My son was at the age, 9 months, where everything was going into his mouth, so in a effort to ease our concerns my husband and I decided that we would make all his gifts, (besides we needed an excuse to buy a scroll saw).
I think what makes them unique is that nearly all of the products I produce were first envisioned as things my son would use, and in fact, he does have one of nearly everything in my product line. “
Each item is handmade with pride and great care. Quality materials and the meticulous detail of a mother’s eye ensure your item will last for generations.”

How fun are these Stackable Wooden Toys! Each one lovingly cut and painted by hand (non toxic paint and sealers of course!) Adorable on the nursery shelf and when baby is old enough a fun puzzle toy. My 3 year old was quite delighted looking at these. She loves her wooden fruit and cakes that use the same velcro system so I knew these would be a hit with her.

Sabre giving the new toys her seal of approval!

The King of Rock & Roll

I was born on Elvis’s birthday so have always had a bit of a soft spot for him. When Ari was little I just wanted an Elvis bodysuit so brought some fabric off ebay and had Kobie whip one up – it was my most favourite outfit for him. It has now been passed on the adorable young Hamish, whose mum is also as cool as me in liking Elvis. So cute!
